Bush Barn Farm

Brand and packaging design for a family-owned Sussex farm that produces a range of elderflower cordials.

Owned by husband-and-wife team Nick and Maria, Bush Barn Farm grow elder trees on 25 acres of rolling hills in Robertsbridge, East Sussex. Each harvest, the elderflowers and elderberries are lovingly hand-picked from the orchard to produce four delicious cordials.

Nick and Maria are deeply passionate about nature and wildlife. They have set aside parts of their farm to create rich grasslands and hedges that promote wildlife diversity and provide food for birds and insects. The farm is proudly certified organic by the Soil Association.

Our goal was to develop a brand identity and packaging design that reflects the Bush Barn Farm story, showcasing their commitment to organic farming, hand-picked harvests, and celebrating nature and wildlife. Each cordial features a unique hand-drawn pattern inspired by life at the farm, including the surrounding oak trees, bluebell woods, and elements like bees, birds, and secateurs. The tapestry style is a modern take on traditional printmaking techniques such as lino block relief and woodcut.

The logo represents the brand as a modern artisan producer with a strong sense of heritage and tradition. The elegant font uses sharp and angular design features, similar to chiselled slate or engraved wood signage often found on farms.

Partnering with photographer Tara Liondaris, we captured a collection of lifestyle imagery for the brand to use in digital marketing and social media posts.

“Working on our rebranding with Claire was simply delightful and she was so organised that it all felt like a simple process for us! She truly understood our identity and visualised it in the most beautiful bottle labels and branding. We are very much looking forward to carrying on working with her for all our future design needs.”
